This is a procedure that if used correctly does not damage your teeth.  At the Marylebone Dental Practice we use either at-home whitening by means of
custom-fit-trays.  These trays, unlike the stock trays sometimes used fit accurately with no leakage of material.  The correct whitening gel will be provided and you will be shown how to fill the trays and apply them to your teeth.

The alternative is ‘in surgery whitening’.  The treatment involves applying whitening gels to the visible surfaces of your teeth after correct protection of your gums and activating by means of a gently heated light.  We now believe that this ‘in-surgery’ treatment should be re-enforced with a take-home system as well.

Patients will have to be aware that existing crowns and white fillings will not be whitened by either of these techniques.  So each case needs to be assessed prior to treatment.
