About The Practice The Marylebone Dental Practice was established in 1992 and has developed an enviable reputation based upon creating a professional but convivial practice atmosphere and a relaxing environment. The popular treatments at the moment are whitening and we use zoom as in-surgery or take home treatments or preferably a combination of the two. Porcelain veneers implants all ceramic crowns and of course tooth coloured restorations are very popular at the moment. We also believe that the patients are best served by being treated by the appropriate person so consequently the patients may also be seen by a specialist in that field. We have been fortunate to be able to call upon the services of various dental specialists including an oral surgeon periodontist endodontist an implantologist and orthodontist each one holds specialist post graduate degrees and most continue to lecture in their field or hold hospital consultancies. Our long term presence in the area has allowed us to develop an excellent working relationship with 2 of the best laboratories in the west end who not only produce the highest standards in routine crown and bridge but are foremost in implant restoration, veneer and smile designs. Because of their close proximity they will, when appropriate, meet with the patients to discuss any issues. As a testament to the practice and its non-corporate status we have been able to maintain continuity of care with very low staff turnover. We have also been fortunate enough to have the services of a brazilian trained dentist with a postgraduate diploma in periodontics currently working at the practice inbetween lecturing at Guy’s hospital. Access to the practice is from ground level. There are stairs to climb, so unfortunately there is no easy access for the disabled. Smile Design. Can dramatically change your smile forever giving you added confidence. Stained, irregular or crowded teeth can often be transformed by the addition of veneers which is a thin layer of porcelain bonded to your teeth. The whole procedure usually takes only 4 visits over a period of 2 weeks although for those special occasions we can reduce this time. Please enquire at the surgery. Video glasses. Have been very popular since we started using them in 1992 for those longer procedures. Apprehensive Patients. At Marylebone Dental Practice we are able to offer the popular relative analgesia which is a totally safe inhalational sedation with no after effects. As an alternative intravenous sedation is often used and for this we can draw upon the services of a network of anaesthetists who visit the surgery to administer this. Finally, Robin Silvester has admitting rights at a local hospital for those occasions where pts prefer a general anaesthetic. As well as the above we can call upon the services of a hypnotherapist. Implantology ‘Tooth replacement that mimics nature’ Where bridges or dentures are not the indicated we can replace missing teeth successfully by means of an implant. The assessment and placement of the implants is carried out by our very experienced implantologist and then restored at The Marylebone Dental Practice Tooth whitening. At the Marylebone Dental Practice we use Zoom ! 2 in-surgery whitening and home bleaching. The in-surgery whitening involves applying gels to the visible surfaces of your teeth after the gums have been protected with a rubber-like material. This gel is then activated by a powerful light. This procedure is then repeated over 3 cycles of 15 minutes each. This technique is usually followed up by a 7-10 day period of home whitening in a custom-made tray. As an alternative to this with the same end result albeit slower the whitening can be carried out totally by home whitening over a longer period of time. We also have now available packs of pre-filled whitening trays when you only want to lighten your teeth by a few shades. Not all patients are suitable for this treatment and an assessment at the surgery would be necessary. In early 1980 he returned to full-time studies and obtained the Primary Fellowship from The Royal College and then resumed general practice this time in the West End of London where he has remained ever since. At the Marylebone Dental Practice we firmly believe that the hygienist is an integral member of the dental team. Tanuja qualified in Leeds and taught at the Royal London, Parisa qualified in Sweden. Hygienists are trained at dental teaching hospitals in all aspects of preventative care, including fissure sealant and fluoride treatments, and are of the greatest importance in the prevention and treatment of periodontal or gum disease. To aid the treatment the hygienist may recommend the use of Oraqix which is a short acting non-injectable local anaesthesia or a range of topical antibiotic gels. The hygienist will advise as to the frequency of suggested visits as these will vary from patient to patient. New Marylebone Dental Practice can now offer non invasive cosmetic treaments to patients.
